How Much Does it Cost to Upgrade Each Level or Board in Monopoly Go
To keep your landmarks and buildings safe from damage caused by railroad shutdowns, many players, myself included, opt to wait until they have sufficient funds to complete a full level before starting any construction. Knowing the upgrade costs in Monopoly Go can be quite beneficial, helping you avoid running out of money during a landmark upgrade.
We have a basic formula to estimate the total cost of any level. Although it isn’t completely precise, it has consistently served as a dependable guideline for calculating the total cost in Monopoly Go.

How to work out the Total Cost of a Level in Monopoly Go
To achieve this, simply take the initial upgrade cost of the first landmark at any level in Monopoly Go and multiply it by 112. If you prefer to be extra careful, you can multiply that number by 115 instead.
I’m currently progressing through the levels in the 200s to 300s, and this method is serving me well. That said, I can’t confirm if it holds up for the lower levels or the much higher ones.
To give you an example, when you reach level 294, the first upgrade for the first landmark will set you back 575 million. I just used a calculator to figure that out.
575,000,000 x 112 = 64,400,000,000
To complete the entire level in one attempt, I’ll need to gather 64.4 billion using that formula.
Why Wait to Build the Whole Level at Once
If you choose to delay your building, you can prevent a Shutdown from occurring when a player lands on a Railroad and either aims for you or is designated as your opponent by the game. This means you’ll only incur the build cost for that level a single time. On the other hand, if you keep trying to build and only make partial progress before your structures are destroyed again, you might find yourself paying that cost repeatedly. Still, this strategy does come with a certain challenge.
The Problem with Waiting to Build a Complete Level at Once
One major issue with holding off until you have enough cash to finish an entire level is that it can require a significant amount of money, especially as you advance in the game. While you’re busy saving up, there’s always the risk of falling victim to a bank heist, which could result in losing a big portion or even all of your funds.
To prevent this from happening, you need to act fast in building your funds. Often, this means opting for higher dice multipliers than you would typically choose, allowing you to quickly generate cash and finish the level without getting Heisted.
You can also begin your construction once you have some of the funds needed for the entire level. If you have a clear idea of your final goal and believe you can reach it with the resources and time you have, go ahead and start building. Keep progressing and use the money you earn along the way until the entire level is finished.
My Strategy to Complete Levels in Monopoly Go
I always prefer to wait until I have enough money to complete a level in one go. It’s really tough to make some progress, take a few hours off, and come back to find everything has fallen apart. Equally frustrating is when you’ve saved up a lot, have to stop playing for a while, and then discover that your entire savings have been wiped out in just a few hours.
To overcome this situation, I play the game only when I have sufficient time to collect enough money to complete a level in one shot. I usually have limited time when my bank is full or when my landmarks are partially built. I also employ the tactic of starting my builds early if I’m close to finishing, as this helps me avoid a Bank Heist and the risk of losing my money before I can use it, which seems to happen quite a bit.
There are other reasons I enjoy playing, such as aiming for Quick Wins daily, which I consider essential. Additionally, if I’m close to earning a four or five-star sticker pack during an event, that adds to my excitement. It’s not solely about boosting my net worth or leveling up; those collections are significant for the rewards they provide.
